D, I thought I'd eventually see a green post here at the 'tong one of these fine days, and my wish came true. Very nicely done and very informative!

What I've been thinking about intently for the past 48 hours -- not to mention after all my China reads and blogpost boning -- is how China and the US might attempt an enviro-alliance on the scale of what Great Britain and Imperial Germany *almost* attempted at the end of the 19th-century (yes, you read that correctly, and you're going to relish reading Harvard's Niall "The Ascent of Money" Ferguson's take on it all here (Newsweek): http://bit.ly/4lY1Q9).

The Shanghai gabfest has *got* to at least propose a trio (or more) of strategies how US and Chinese lower-downs can collaborate on the environmental crusade.

I won't be there, but that doesn't stop you from hobnobbing around and astounding the gathered with riffs off Ferguson's novel idea.

Great to see you back in the game...
