Interesting to see how things worked out for, say, Israel -- one of the PRC's most compelling trading partners which China so very much wishes to emulate in many ways -- and how the scientific brains *followed* the advent of the nation's financial industry development. How the sudden influx of former Soviet engineering and other scientific talents enriched and accelerated the movement and application of Israel's investment banking capital base.

China | Indeed, a different scale and historical development, but perhaps there's some lessons to be learned from the Jewish State's example? It's got the technical minds already present, so perhaps the vigorous shaking up of the investment banking sector can't be a bad thing?

Furthermore, I think the lack of a desire to want to learn scientific subjects is something which ails the entire developed world, wouldn't you say?

Has the time come again for another "Rice University" speech, or have we received too many of those from the White House this and last year already?
